A Bit About Me and the Tour
My love for Japan began at a young age, through its unique animation and innovative video games. During my first visit in 2009, I spent a month studying Japanese and living with a local family, followed by two more months exploring Japan all the way to its northernmost point. Since then, I’ve continued to fall in love - with the culture, history, people, and of course, the food. I offer two main tour routes: Specific stops can be adjusted upon request - such as a fire ceremony, the artificial island of Odaiba, or anything else you’ve heard about that isn’t listed here. I’ll do my best to tailor the experience to your preferences! Eastern Route (come hungry - highly recommended): Asakusa Visit Senso-ji Temple, a great place to try traditional street sweets and experience “old Japan” in the heart of the city. We’ll learn about the history of the site, its importance to the shogun who unified Japan, and try a few local customs. Ueno A lively food market offering a wide variety of street food such as sushi, yakitori, takoyaki, okonomiyaki, fruits, and more. Akihabara The center of Japan’s electronics and pop culture scene, filled with anime, video games, and merchandise. I’ll share personal stories while giving you a glimpse into otaku culture. Ginza Tokyo’s luxury district. We’ll start at an impressive department store with a unique food floor, explore high-end fashion stores that feel like galleries, and finish with a great viewpoint. Western Route: Meiji Jingu A shrine dedicated to the emperor and his wife, and a popular wedding spot on weekends. We’ll learn about Japan’s modernization process and the ruling system of that era. Takeshita Street A hub of alternative fashion and kawaii culture, packed with unique clothing shops, colorful sweets, and themed cafés (including animal cafés). Shibuya A major entertainment district for young people, home to the world’s busiest crossing and the famous Hachiko statue. We’ll walk through love hotel streets and nightlife areas while experiencing the intense energy of the city.
