Hiroshima

Hiroshima (広島) was almost entirely destroyed within a two-kilometer radius by the atomic bomb dropped on August 6, 1945. After the war, great efforts were made to rebuild the city. Many of Hiroshima’s historical landmarks, such as Hiroshima Castle and Shukkeien Garden, were fully restored. In the city center, the well-known Peace Memorial Park was established alongside an impressive museum.

Hiroshima is a destination of immense historical significance, but it also offers plenty of charm beyond its powerful story. If you decide to visit, don’t miss trying okonomiyaki (the local specialty) and be sure to explore the beautiful island of Miyajima.
