A Bit About Me and the Tour
Nice to meet you, I’m Lia. I was born and raised in Osaka, until my family decided to move abroad. Over the years I’ve had the chance to experience Japanese culture from both a local and a more global perspective. This combination allows me to see Japan in a unique way, both its beauty and its deeper layers. With every visit, I discovered more depth in Japanese culture - things I couldn’t notice as a child. That deep connection led me back to Japan, not only to live here, but also to share its magic with others. Through my tours, I invite you to experience Japan beyond the surface, its places, flavors, and traditions, through a local and personal perspective. Eastern Kyoto Tour: We begin at Fushimi Inari Taisha, famous for its thousands of red torii gates along forested paths. Continue to Kiyomizu-dera, a stunning temple with panoramic views of Kyoto. We’ll stroll through the historic streets of Ninenzaka and Sannenzaka, filled with traditional wooden houses, tea shops, and street food. Visit Yasaka Shrine and continue into Gion, Kyoto’s geisha district, where we may spot geisha or maiko. We end at Nishiki Market, a lively food market full of local specialties and traditional sweets. Western Kyoto Tour: Start at Nijō Castle, the former residence of the shogun. Continue to Kinkaku-ji, covered in gold and reflected in a serene pond. Visit Ryōan-ji and its famous Zen rock garden. In Arashiyama, enjoy a quiet bamboo grove, cross Togetsukyo Bridge, and take in the peaceful river and mountain scenery. Off-the-Beaten-Path Tour: Begin at Nishiki Market for local snacks and flavors. Continue to Daitoku-ji and its peaceful Zen gardens. Visit a traditional shop for grilled mochi (Aburi Mochi), then head to Otagi Nenbutsu-ji with its 1,200 unique stone statues and Adashino Nenbutsu-ji bamboo grove. End at Gio-ji Temple, known as the “moss temple,” and explore Arashiyama’s relaxed streets.
