Tokyo Tower (東京タワー), standing at 333 meters, is the tallest steel tower in the world - 3 meters taller than the Eiffel Tower. It was the tallest structure in Japan from its completion in 1958 until 2012, when it was surpassed by Tokyo Skytree.
The main observation deck at 150 meters can be reached by elevator or, if you’re up for it, by climbing about 600 stairs (both options require a ticket). A second set of elevators continues up to the top deck at 250 meters. On clear days, you might even catch a view of Mount Fuji. At the base of the tower, in a complex known as Foot Town, you’ll find a variety of shops and restaurants.
That said, among Tokyo’s many observation options, Tokyo Tower isn’t necessarily the most impressive in terms of height or views. You might want to consider alternatives like Shibuya Sky or Tokyo Skytree.
