Senjokaku is a spacious wooden hall located just above Itsukushima Shrine, known for its open design and great views.
It was originally commissioned in the 16th century by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, but was never fully completed, which is why it feels so open and simple compared to other temples.
From here, you get a nice view over the shrine and the sea, and the atmosphere is calm and quiet. It’s an easy stop nearby, and a good place to take a short break and enjoy the view.
