Nara Park (奈良公園) is a park in the center of Nara, best known for its hundreds of deer that roam freely and approach eager tourists for food.
The deer are considered messengers of the gods, and it turns out those messengers really love the crackers sold throughout the park. Deer are quite intelligent animals, and the ones in Nara have learned to bow to visitors as a way of asking for food - and it works.
Some of them can be quite aggressive, so consider yourself warned.
