Nara National Museum (奈良国立博物館) is located right בתוך Nara Park and focuses on Japanese Buddhist art. The museum is made up of two wings (an old and a new building), displaying Buddhist statues, paintings, scrolls, and ritual objects - mainly from Japan.
The newer wing hosts temporary exhibitions, including a well-known annual autumn exhibition featuring treasures from Todai-ji Temple.
A single ticket grants access to both wings, and there are plenty of English explanations throughout the museum.
