Fugaku Wind Cave

A cave that was used for cooling in ancient times

Fugaku Wind Cave

Wikipedia

Source:

Fugaku wind cave is surrounded by the lush vegetation of Aokigahara Forest.

Inside the cave, it stays cool year-round, even in summer, with an average temperature of around 3°C. In the past, the cave was used as a natural refrigerator for storing silkworm eggs.

The cave is 201 meters long and about 8.7 meters high. Unlike most caves, where you can hear echoes, the basalt walls here absorb sound - so it’s unusually quiet inside.

The cave is easy to explore and accessible to most visitors, including children and older travelers.
