Chureito Pagoda (忠霊塔) is a five-story pagoda set on a mountainside overlooking the city of Fujiyoshida and Mount Fuji.
The pagoda is part of Arakura Sengen Shrine and was built in 1963 as a peace memorial. It sits about 400 steps above the shrine’s main buildings.
The site is especially popular for its iconic views of Mount Fuji framed by the pagoda - particularly during cherry blossom season in mid-April, when hundreds of trees bloom, and in autumn, usually in the first half of November.
That said, it’s beautiful year-round and definitely worth a visit even outside peak seasons.
