Arima Onsen is one of Japan’s oldest hot spring towns, just a short trip from Kobe.
The town has a cozy, traditional feel, with small streets, local shops, and bathhouses scattered around. It’s famous for two types of hot springs: the “gold” water, which is dark and rich in minerals, and the “silver” water, which is clear and lighter.
It’s the kind of place you come to slow down, walk around a bit, grab something small to eat, and then sink into a hot bath.
